Not What I Expected A review of Sporting News Magazine, December 1, 2009 Submitted by: samr46 from New York, NY
Probably a good magazine for hard core enthusiasts but a bit too much opinion and not enough facts. Reads a bit like like a People magazine for sports. I wanted coverage and analysis for my teams, recruiting classes, injuries, in depth analysis. Instead, this has a lot of what former jocks think about various topics. Who's the best lefthander today according to several former baseballers, etc.

Hard and fast info A review of Sporting News Magazine, November 17, 2009 Submitted by: xmayor
I don't have time to read a 4 page article about a teams strengths, weaknesses, dreams, aspirations. Sporting news gives me the facts I need and will remember about a team, sport, individual without the fluff. I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR FLUFF.

The Former Baseball Bible A review of Sporting News Magazine, December 11, 2007 Submitted by: DrDunk from Abilene, TX
Unfortunately, this periodical has gone from being the baseball bible with a little about football and basketball to an attempt to say a little about everything. Not only are the football and basketball sections expanded while baseball has been reduced, but the journal has added extensive coverage of hockey and worse NASCAR. As an all-sports journal, its writers do not have the freedom to provide the quality articles that Sports Illustrated have. The correspondents must continue to have a lettle aobut all major professional teams and at least major conferences in NCAA Division I (while covering everything, why not add Divisions II and III and NAIA?). I continue to subscribe because it does offer good tidbits about all professinal teams in sports that interest me, but I no longer read it from cover to cover.

Great Magazine but arrives late A review of Sporting News Magazine, December 11, 2007 Submitted by: kvill73 from Dallas, TX
I enjoy this magazine for it's versatility but wish it arrived a few days sooner as it usually reports news that has already been covered (sometimes arriving with predictions about games that have already been played).

Solid Sports Magazine A review of Sporting News Magazine, December 10, 2007 Submitted by: Scott from Napa, CA
The Sporting News is a top-notch source for sports information, inside scoops, and some really lively writing. I read about 75% of each issue and find some nice tidbits contained in each one. My only criticism is that it provides too much NASCAR information - of which I am not a big fan. But, it is definitely worth the price of the subscription.

great information A review of Sporting News Magazine, December 10, 2007 Submitted by: humhum
a lot of information packed into each issue for all the sports

Sporting News does a great job of covering sports. A review of Sporting News Magazine, December 10, 2007 Submitted by: charliew from mount pleasant, sc
I miss Dave Kindred's column and wish there were more opinion pieces in it. You can't beat the magazine for its coverage. Mine often shows up on Mondays, which hurts the timeliness of the articles. But that's the post office's fault, not yours. They've been notified.

Football only A review of Sporting News Magazine, December 7, 2007 Submitted by: Doc from Winchendon, MA
Tendency to duplicate popular opinion from other sports "analysts". Predictions are quite poor. Analysis is quite mundane. However, I love football gossip and therefore, the magazine. Jon Nicholson

Great Sports Mag A review of Sporting News Magazine, December 7, 2007 Submitted by: amoe
Great for following up on stories that are touched upon on sportscenter and other tv stories. Sporting News goes more indepth into stories that you only get headlines for elsewhere.

My boyfriend loves it! A review of Sporting News Magazine, August 22, 2007 Submitted by: Double H from New Orleans, LA
I have heard no complaints from my boyfriend.

Overall best sport magazine A review of Sporting News Magazine, August 20, 2007 Submitted by: Cathy from Kettering, OH
My husband & I both enjoy Sporting News. However, there were times when we won't receive a magazine for a couple weeks, then receive 3 magazines in a week. It was very overwhelming. The magazine should arrive weekly on the same day.

Not what it used to be... A review of Sporting News Magazine, July 20, 2007 Submitted by: ninbud
This magazine has been producing less and less readable articles over the years. Has more advertisting, same cover people, and fails to cover all sports with the same manner. With the internet most of the information is just random bits of knowledge for the reader. I remember it having more "information" and realative articles years ago. Why do I subscribe do you ask....Well I have been for years and do need the reading material.

The best sports weekly A review of Sporting News Magazine, July 12, 2007 Submitted by: The Gardner Geezer from Gardner, MA
Informative weekly reports on NFL,MLB,NBA, and NHL from team beat writers and college sports. Good feature articles. A little too much NASCAR.

Too much Nascar A review of Sporting News Magazine, July 12, 2007 Submitted by: Bostonnative from Carlsbad, CA
Sporting News keeps on shortening the news of individual teams in all major sports and adds more features (some of which are excellent) and Nascar which is a waste. If I wanted Nascar I'd subscribe to a Nascar magazine.
