1 Star ReviewFair and Balanced ????????
A review of The Economist Magazine, November 26, 2009
Submitted by: Eugene from Orinda, CA

As I read the Economist for the first time, I'm somewhat surprised to see some of the one-sided type journalism made popular by FOX NEWS. This just isn't true journalism, rather it's advocacy for very different governing standards than those duly elected at the 2008 election. Isn't it time for magazines like The Economist to hire a broad spectrum of analysts. Why doesn't Paul Krugman get to write in your journal ?? The greatness of our American Republic is our ability to swing "left" and "right" and find compromise. Governments without that ability are some of the least successful governments on earth. I hope America won't have to go down the partisan path. Magazines like yours can bring us together if they will truly use "fair and balanced" as their standard. Interesting how the most unfair and least balanced FOX has co-opted that phrase. I don't plan on renewing my subscription if I don't see a more balanced presentation in these coming months. Thank you for listening,

More than any other resource, I can depend on The Economist for objective analysis of current events.

2 Star ReviewRealistic or Just Plain Negative?
A review of The Economist Magazine, November 24, 2009
Submitted by: Pilotdave from MA

We have now read this magazine for nearly two months. While we were prepared for - and expecting - a more-balanced outlook and more inciteful reporting as compared to, say, Time or Newsweek, we were not expecting a near-continuous negative perspective on President Obama's policies and performance. It is difficult to believe that there is nothing in either as evidenced by the past several months about which The Economist could find positive things to say. Perhaps the magazine's editors should take a walk in the hopes of gaining a fresh, less jaundiced perspective. We are unlikely to renew.
