This is a magazine for all educators A review of Instructor Magazine, November 26, 2008 Submitted by: Andrew from Oak Ridge, TN
The magazine, Instructor is an informative and useful magazine. The articles focus on questions, concerns, and issues I often ask myself; and the guidance is it offers should be taken to heart--Instructor is a "must read”, and read often for all in the profession of education.
Bravo to all on the staff—keep it coming!
Sincerely,

Insightful Information A review of Instructor Magazine, November 25, 2008 Submitted by: Laerin Evans
This magazine provides a variety of sources and valuable information for anyone who is a teacher or is considering becoming one. They cover classroom management tips, science project ideas, fun math games, etc. The magazine is only lacking in having a few columns from teachers giving their perspectives.

Articles are relevant to the field of education A review of Instructor Magazine, November 25, 2008 Submitted by: Mrs. V from woodlake, CA
The articles are relevant to the issues being addressed in the field of education. Not only do they bring these issues to the forefront, but they also provide research that is current and directly related to topic as a resource for educators.

Great resource for veteran, as well as new teachers.

A review of Instructor Magazine, November 25, 2008 Submitted by: lebrwn from Knoxville, TN
Instructor was not as informative as I had hoped. The articles did not address issues that helped me as a 4th grade teacher in an inner-city school with large numbers of children that aren't native to the United States.

Great magazine! A review of Instructor Magazine, November 25, 2008 Submitted by: Jerms from Emporia, KS
This magazine has lots of ideas for the classroom and has good articles to help teachers. One bad thing is that it is mostly geared toward elementary and middle school teachers and not a lot for secondary teachers.

The articles are very timely A review of Instructor Magazine, November 25, 2008 Submitted by: Becky from Grand Island, NE
Having subscribed to INSTRUCTOR magazine many years ago, I was a bit disappointed NOT to find articles on art / artists. The magazine of years prior often included a poster with information regarding an art piece or additional information regarding an artist.
I was quite happy to find the URLs for great websites (already reviewed!) and the article concerning "Helicopter Parents" which was very timely!

Instructor makes me a better instructor! A review of Instructor Magazine, November 18, 2008 Submitted by: Allison G. from Richland, WA
The magazine's first issue that came to my house was a wonderful treat! It had this great article in it about what to do with super-involved "Helicopter" parents. It was so useful and I have been putting the research to practice in my classroom and my home communication with the 'Helicopter' parents in my class.
Thanks for the grrreat subscription!

Instructor A review of Instructor Magazine, November 18, 2008 Submitted by: Mike from PA
Instructor is a great magazine for a variety of teaching levels! Yet I am hopeful to someday find a publication that is a bit more focused on "my world" specifically. Maybe someday there can be a magazine that is devoted to Middle School issues. There's surely a market for that in my school!

Interesting format and helpful information A review of Instructor Magazine, November 18, 2008 Submitted by: farmgirl from Eldridge, IA
This issue of magazine provides a good variety of education related articles, but tends to address elementary level slightly more than secondary. Very attractive and interesting articles, overall.

"Awesome Articles" A review of Instructor Magazine, November 16, 2008 Submitted by: Cheryl from CCHills, IL
Instructor magazine connects teachers with others in the profession using interesting articles and suggestions. It is so nice to be able to read how others in the profession explore possibilities in the classroom to help us think out of the box. These articles stimulate creative thinking and endless possiblilities for our students, the ones we go beyond limits to make successful. Thank you Instructor Magazine!

Great for teachers of all disciplines A review of Instructor Magazine, November 16, 2008 Submitted by: moongirl
I especially like the art news and the inserts focusing on artists. Our students do not get enough art integration today as a result of the demands of accountability in all areas except the arts for high stakes testing. Your focus on technology and offering good teaching websites is also very helpful.

Information that is concise, ads that are in-depth A review of Instructor Magazine, November 15, 2008 Submitted by: proficient by 2014? from Maysville, KY
Articles about the profession and the issues that face the professionals are concise and easy to read and digest. This is crucial to the time challenged educators in today's classrooms.
The advertising sections, particularly those for technology products, provide more than just a nice photo and a vendor contact. They provide information about applications and capabilities of the product. This allows educators to avoid wasting time with a salesman when the product is not what the ecucator needs.

A Good Teacher Resource A review of Instructor Magazine, November 13, 2008 Submitted by: TBH from Camden from Camden, NJ
Where do you go when you need that little extra to kick up a classroom strategy? From games to manipulatives, Instructor has it all. I use the posters in the middle of the magazine to decorate my classroom. I use the information with the poster as a learning activity whether poetry or author study with my students. Instructor is bright and alive with relevant ideas of today. Especially helpful are the articles from teachers or parents on strategies with Special Needs children. I teach Special Needs students in an urban setting and I love to share with them what you share in Instructor! Don't forget the information cards in the back. You can receive a wealth of information from other sources as well. How many magazines do you know that lead you to other places of information? Instructor is a Great Teacher Resource!

Instructor is a great resource tool for busy teachers. We all have to admit that we overlook "the simple and creative things" from time to time when teaching each year. It's good to turn to a magazine that can lend some helpful tips, resources and ideas that you otherwise would miss out!

Smart Educators Using SmartBoards A review of Instructor Magazine, November 12, 2008 Submitted by: Flipper from Durham, NC
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the article concerning educators who use SMART technology. Our principal recently purchased Smartboards for each grade level and I just love the use of technology within the classroom. It is so engaging and students love instructional presentations with these boards. I have not mastered all the ins and outs of how to use these; however, I'm still excited about using the Smart technology.
I shared the article about Smart Educators using SmartBoards with a colleague who actually wrote a grant and he received his SmartBoard a year ahead of everyone else. And no matter where he goes, his SmartBoard goes with him.

I appreciate the strong information on opportunities to obtain grants and other products for school. I find the magazine is geared to the teacher of younger students. Although I teach sixth, seventh, and eighth grade gifted students language arts and the magazine's content is a little young for my needs, I still find useful tips and ideas.

Magazine is biased! A review of Instructor Magazine, October 28, 2008 Submitted by: crabtree from roan mt, tn
I received my copy of this magzine and noticed it had a section for elections in it. I flipped to that page and immediately I noticed that the picture of Mr. Obama was about three times the size of John McCain's picture. Knowing what a close race this election will be it upset me that the editor of the magazine deliberately chose to put such a huge picture of Obama's head up front with John McCain behind him. Teachers are not supposed to teach their political views in the classroom. Just give info and let the students decide. I feel this article was biased and will not renew my subscription.

Great Resource for Teachers A review of Instructor Magazine, September 10, 2008 Submitted by: AYoungblood
I've been receiving Instructor Magazine for many years. I love how there are tons of ideas from other teachers about how to teach, how to manage your class and schedule and all, as well as fun ideas for settling kids in. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is that they used to have fabulous art posters in each issue, and from what I can tell, they've stopped doing that. However, despite that, it's still a great magazine - and I teach high school. I just adapt their ideas to my room. :)

I gave this subscription to my daughter who was going into her first year of teaching 3rd grade last year, after I had read several issues in the library. I will be renewing it for her this year, too.
