There are many publishing competitors to Barron's. There are also many online news competitors as well. Barron's is just OK. Its information is not timely, but some of their columnists are insightful. Fortune, The Economist and others do a good job too.

Barrons offers a lot of academic and scientific information, supporting virtually any investment decision one could possibly consider.
That is both Barrons' strenght and weakness - all manner of Wall Street "pros" promoting all manner of investment beliefs. In sum, Barrons is reminicent of John Kennedy's description of economists: "lay them end to end and they will point in all directions."
