I find that you can care, feed, find fixes for medical needs, games, food to be healthy by, or just games to play to keep your pet happy and healthy. It has a large variety of articles to help anyone raise or think about caring for a dog. It even gives one a way for cooking treats for them too. I've had this magazine for many years, and when I decided to get another dog after a passing time of not having one, I wanted this magazine for all of the items offered me for them. It is like a bible for dogs. Try it, anyone serious about their pet, will find it is very useful. Now, my wife and I have adopted an English Mastiff recued dog from a shelter. So once again I wanted the magazine. I find that it has been updated with many great articles. I read it from cover to cover. I enjoy all the articles, but especially those of hints to make your  dog speciality treats. It shows many new ideas to old projects, which I really can into. Thanks for a terrific magazine. I will be renewing this many times over. Many of the articles read like good stories. The photographs are top notch and I rank them with National Geographic. Recently I was adopted by a Shih-Tzu female puppy named Haley and decided to subsribe to Dog Fancy to see if there was anything new I could learn to take care of Haley.  And there was.  Plenty, in fact. Each issue gives me a fresh perspective and understanding for the care of Haley.  Haley is very happy and so am I. In these tough times with millions of dogs being abandoned due to home foreclosures and people just not able to keep their pets, Dog Fancy should be providing more articles to help people in those situations or steer wanna-be dog owners to shelters and rescues rather than advertising breeders who charge astronomical amounts for dogs when a great dog can be rescued from certain death for a small fee. I have a Bichon, and wholeheartedly agree with the loveable good natured traits the magazine purported. Bichons are notoriously slower in becoming housebroken, but the extra effort is so worth the time. Bichons make the best family pets in the the world. The Obamas should reconsider their options before discounting the Bichon as an option! The articles I did read were heart felt and the gift ideas, although slightly dog obsessive, made me laugh.  My Terrier and I won't be getting many of those fancy gadgets, but it does give me a lot of ideas for things to think about getting that are similar. I didn't learn a lot new since I've had dauchshunds for many years, but I did check into some of the advertisers since I'm looking for a harness that doesn't pull on their necks and is longer from the neck band back to the back ring attachment.  Your articles mentioned twice that this breed has fragile necks and windpipes; that was new to me. I certainly know about their back problems, but  appreciated the information about the neck area. One is 10 years old and has always been easy to raise.  The  other is 2 years old and has been a terror.  I subscribed to Dog Fancy because "Terrible Tessie" was a handful.   I was given Tessie when she was 8 weeks old and up until now I always said "big mistake". Her 2 yr. birthday seemed to be the turning point.  Maybe age had something to do with the change, I will never know.  I credit Dog Fancy with the change  in behavior.  I had help reading about    housetraining,  and also chewing everything in sight, furniture, shoes, slippers, two comforters,etc. Thanks to the wonderful articules in Dog Fancy, it is a joy to have Tessie in the family.   INFORMATIVE A review of this Magazine, July 12, 2007 Submitted by: Fran from Blanchard, Pa I have been getting Dog Fancy for nearly 20yrs or more and find them to be very helpful in many things also the pictures are very beautiful.
