I started with MacFormat in 1996 just they were shifting from free 3.5 floppies in the mag to CDs.  It has since been my favorite Mac-oriented publication.  The writing is consistently strong and relevant.  Their reviews are fair, both to the product manufacturer as well as the end user.  Their articles are geared to the novice user as well as the Jedi Masters, and plenty of supporting material is provided to the reader. The e-edition has translated well to the iPad.

I understand the business decision to cease attaching a DVD of software with each issue, but I still miss poring through the monthly disks.  Perhaps another business opportunity would be to devevlop quarterly disks for sale to subscribers.

If you can have only one Mac magazine, this is the one to get.

Mac Format takes the Mac user into many areas of the Mac experience.

I really like the lay out of the magazine and the information they have on keeping your computer in tip-top shape.  They explain how new software works without talking over the common user's head.  Just a very nice all around magazine for the Mac user.
