5 Star ReviewBest Magazine for Balanced News Coverage
A review of US News & World Report Magazine, February 24, 2010
Submitted by: Ambleside from Huntsville, AL

I have been subscribing to U.S. News and World Report since October 1955.  In just 7 months I shall have been a continuous subscriber for 55 years.  The reason for sticking with U.S. News for so long is their unbiased and balanced coverage of not only the national news but world news as well.  Washington Whispers has been one of the most accurate inside information sources available.  I sporadically subsrcibed to Time and Newsweek, but their coverage was not unbiased in my thinking.  So I don't even think about those magazines any more.  If you are looking for a great news magazine, with telling it like it is news,  this is it.

1 Star ReviewQuality plummets! Satisfaction dissipates!
A review of US News & World Report Magazine, February 17, 2010

I have become disenchanted with this magazine. I initially subscribed to US News and World Report for domestic and international news reporting. I grew tired of Time magazine in its new formats and was very hopeful that this magazine would give what I wanted. IT FAILED MISERABLY! More advertising, less news. Then the combination of far fewer editions and a switch from news to Best Colleges, Best Hospitals, Best High Schools, etc. The only reason I still get this paper waster is because they extended my subscription when they began to publish fewer editions annually.

2 Star ReviewFading Quality

I was disappointed to learn that US News and World Report is not a weekly publication. The selected topics for each monthly edition are covered in too much depth, and much of the discussion is merely a rehash of previously published information. I will not renew my subscription.

1 Star ReviewNew format is worthless

They changed formats in the middle of my multi-year subscription. Gone: Any news about the week and most of the good analytical writing. Newsweek also changed formats, but it became arguably a considerably better newsmagazine in the process while retaining its best writers.

5 Star ReviewComprehensive news magazine.
A review of US News & World Report Magazine, July 28, 2009

I have already received my first two issues.  I am thus far pleased at the comprehensive and thorough review of the selected monthly topic.  The articles and commentaries appear insightful.

There seems to be far more substance to this magazine than the previous weekly news magazine (Newsweek) that I subscribed to.
