I have subscriptions to New Yorker and Atlantic and Harper's is on par with both of them. I'm actually excited (over a magazine mind you) when I see a new issue in my mailbox.  I can't say enough for the way that magazine has changed my life.

When I recieved the first magazine, I put it aside as the articles looked long, and I was busy.  The second issue I received had an article on beef slaughter houses which caught my attention as I eat a vegan diet. I thought the piece was very well done even though Mr. Conover did not give up meat in his diet, so I started reading other articles and liked their depth.  I have read almost all of both issues and am looking forward to more. I especially like the interesting Harper Index and Findings. I'll look for them first.

Articles are varied and interesting. Authorship of most articles among the best I've seen in many magazines. Thank you.

I've tried to be open-minded about East Coast publications, but like the New Yorker, Harpers is full of depressing, painful, downer articles.  I'll not be renewing this morbid magizine.

informative about a variety of topics - would not subscribe again however - would prefer something more interesting more female oriented.
