  I am really new at pastels, I first started collecting some books on the subject, then bought some pastels, some hardl, but mostly soft. Got a good enough start on them to start painting. I froze when I read the books, but reading the magazine built my confidence enough to start, I'm still painting with it, Now it's time to renew.

I am somewhat disappointed in the mag's articles.  I expected more on "how to" and demonstrations rather than artists' philosophies and examples of their work.  Articles seem more for the purpose of showing their products and their biologies rather than their actual techniques and demos.  Articles are always by artists that advertise in the mag. so it would seem that the purpose is solely to attract readers to the advertiser's offerings-their "Workshops" mostly. 

The "artist's markerplace" is very interesting.  I hope to find a workshop I can reach and afford eventually. 

I'm glad there is a mag. that is devoted to "Pastel".  I only hope it improves as a useful tool for the average pastelist.
