Although some of the recipe's ingredients are hard to come by here in the midwest, I was able to pick and choose the more simpler recipes and they come out fantastic for entertaining and family-style dinners.

Too many adds for a magazine that is particular to gourmet cuisine. Prefer Food and WIne for its catering specifically to food (and wine)

Beautiful publication.  Articles, especially travel-related, are useful and interesting.  Food articles are always worth reading, even if the recipes are less than practical for the home kitchen.

I've subscribed almost since the first issue and will continue, even though my cooking days are limited.

As the oldest consumer F&B mag going, Gourmet is still a good source of ideas and has some excellent articles.  The recipes are more hit and miss than they used to be, unfortunately.  Some issues are home runs and some are duds -- the consistent quality is not there as much as in the past (I have subscribed for over 20 years).

The biggest problem I have with Gourmet and its competitors is the ridiculous number of "special advertising sections" that interrupt the content, make it hard to find the right page (these pages are not numbered), and generally clutter up the magazine with utter crap.  I recognize that the magazines need advertising revenue to survive, but I would happily pay more for my subscription if they would leave these OUT.  If they can produce a different cover for the newsstand versus the subscribers' editions, surely they can do the same with those pesky advertising sections. (If they HAVE to be included, put 'em all in one section, at the very least!)
