The Economist is essential for anyone outside the UK focusing on business, economics, comparative politics, Europe or International Relations. It is clearly biased (as all similar publications are) but it wears its bias on its sleeve. Its different viewpoint contrasts with and illuminates all the local source material you are flooded with.

Deals great with many global issues.

I em enjoying my subscription to The Economist very much.  I like the global perspective of the magazine as opposed to many U.S. based magazines.  I used to read this regularly in college in the library--and now I remember why.
