Great for beginners

My 5 year old loves this magazine. She reads the stories and loves the bright colors.

not durable

This is not durable enough for the little hands its intended for. Also not on a reading level for 2-6. However the website is a great asset but you can access it without getting the membership.

Good shared reading

Ladybug has topics aimed at children ages 2-6, but the text is not written big enough nor is it focused for independent reading for children ages 5-6. It would be a better investment to buy books and let the children read the books. I purchased it for my classroom to expose the students to different types of writing and reading. There are approximately 1-2 poems or stories per issue that the kids can read independently, the rest of the magazine is shared reading, which is alright but not as advertised and certainly not durable enough even with gentle handling to keep for years to come.

It seems my kids love picutre books and other magzines more than this ladybug. It is nice magzine but it is not that eyecatching.
