I am a Northern Michigan summer resident and receiving Traverse magazine brings into my home some wonderful articles about life 'up north'. I also like the cultural listings such as restaurants, performances and community activities.  In the winter back home in Illinois, I read Traverse to relive the great experiences I had around the Grand Traverse region.  They, like all magazines of this type, could be a little harder on their food reviews and venue ratings.  Trying to please the advertiser with glossy, superficious food reviews is typical. It's the brilliant short articles such as the recent one on a man's quest to learn how to repair a sailboat studying under a master craftsman, makes reading Traverse worthwile.

Fantastic magazine with good coverage of Leelanau County and all the towns and villages of that County.  The restaurant reviews in the back of each edition have proven to be very reliable.

Both my husband and I really like this magazine. It is interesting, has very nice design, and I even really like the ads. I think both the articles and the ads are really helpful when planning a trip or just educating myself about "Up North."
