Magazine Overview

About The Economist (Print Only)

Our vision of the world, our style and our whole philosophy are different from other publications. We are international, we stress the links between politics and business, we are irreverent and we are independent.

Edited in London since 1843, The Economist is a weekly international news and business publication, offering clear reporting, commentary and analysis on world current affairs, business, finance, science and technology, culture, society, media and the arts. As noted on its contents page, The Economist's goal is to "take part in a severe contest between intelligence, which presses forward, and an unworthy, timid ignorance obstructing our progress."

Your paid subscription to The Economist includes the print-only edition. The digital edition may be purchased separately or as a bundle with the print edition. To gain access to the audio edition, choose a digital subscription. Type "The Economist" in the search box to see all versions.

Indispensable!

After a friend sent me this as a gift, I became addicted. I'm told that these days more than half the subscribers are in the U.S. Sometimes there's a small error in a U.S.-based article. But this old journalist is constantly amazed by the depth, variety and perceptiveness of the reporting. And the dry humor in headline puns etc. is delightful. Years ago many liberals dismissed the magazine as capital C Conservative. But that's rarely the case today; it even pokes fun at that reputation.

Excellent for world enthusasm

I tried all current American news magazines and found none that were better than 20% as good as the Economist. I always check the science and literary sections first but always read the other sections. Easily our best magazine.

Very Informative

Outstanding information on world events that matter. Like one of the readers has mentioned not enough time to read everything and then a new issue appears. I guess I have to read faster or pick a few interesting articles to read. Great Magazine highly recommend it!

THE BEST OF THE BEST

Our son had originally alerted us to the ECONOMIST a number of years ago and it has been our bible to the news around the world. It is a blessing that we have an access to the world from another prospective, that is it is not an American publication and therefore not slanted in our con tries' view due to some writer here having a slant in his writings. I look forward to every issue and patricianly in some other articles which are extremely interesting and are found in other publications. I am 91 years of age and it is the best of the best of the best in world news coverage. I do hope that others will see what they have been missing.

Best Magazine I read

Widest coverage of the world in politics, economics, culture, etc.. but the articles are very rich. Rare combination and also the only place I can go to find out what's going on in the world both inside and outside. Then there are the special sections they have every few weeks on a singular topic... Tech, England, High Speed Trading, Medical Research, Islam, etc. Something very special.

The only magazine needed.

If you can only read one magazine, this would be the one to have. Concise and thorough articles, great coverage of world news.
