How soon can I expect my magazine?
Magazine industry guidelines for starting or renewing a subscription are:
Daily Papers: 2 to 3 weeks
Weekly Magazines: 4 to 6 weeks
Bi-Weekly and Monthly Titles: 6 to 10 weeks
Bi-monthly and Quarterly Subscriptions: 12 to 16 weeks.
There are a few publishers that take longer than the standard start time. If your subscription hasn’t started in the appropriate time frame, or begins with a past issue you have already read, please contact us.
Can I renew with your company even though I originally ordered somewhere else?
Yes. We can renew most of the magazines we offer whether the current subscription is through us or another source. Only a few publishers don’t allow us to renew magazines. When you place your order, check the “Renewal” box next to the magazine in the shopping cart. Make sure that your name and address are entered exactly as they appear on your current magazine label to ensure that the publisher adds the new term to the end of your existing subscription. If you receive duplicate issues, please contact us right away.
When should I renew my subscription?
Renewals should be placed at least 8 weeks prior to the expiration date to ensure continuous service. Be sure to use the exact same name and address when you renew your subscription.
How do I place a gift order?

When you’re in the shopping cart you can indicate that an item is a gift. Later in the checkout process, you will be able to enter your recipient’s name and address.


Why is the expiration date on my magazine label different from what’s on your website or my subscription summary form?

The expiration dates we provide are estimates. The actual expiration date is on the magazine label above your name.   See the example below.  It will state the month and year in the format the publisher has designated. For example, an expiration date of April 2011 may show up as 04/11, AP11, APR 11, or some variation.  If you have any questions please contact us.

How much does your shipping and handling cost?
Shipping and handling are always free.
I can’t find my magazine on your website, can you help?
If you can’t find your magazine on our site, please give us a call. Some publishers want us to omit their magazine from our website but you can still order them over the phone.
I’d like to change an address on one of my subscriptions. Can I do that?
Yes, log into your customer account with us and fill out the “change of address “ form. Or you can call us and we can do it for you! If you’re moving, please note that it takes the publishers around 8 weeks to make an address change. If you will be moving sooner than that, notify the Post Office of your new address and ask them to forward your magazines.
I’m moving out of the country. Can I forward my magazine to my new address?
Unfortunately, we can’t arrange delivery outside the USA and its territories. If you’re returning to the USA, we can suspend your subscription and re-start it when you return.
May I cancel my magazine delivery before the subscription ends?
If at any time you become dissatisfied with a magazine you ordered from us, we will send a prompt refund for the remaining issues on your subscription. Or, you can apply the credit balance to a new magazine.
I didn’t receive an issue of my magazine. What can I do?
Call or email our Customer Service department and we’ll work with the publisher to rectify the situation.
My magazine was badly damaged in the mail. What can I do?
Call or email our Customer Service department and we’ll work with the publisher to rectify the situation.
I got two copies of the same magazine. What can I do?
Call or email our Customer Service department and we’ll figure out what happened.
The first magazine I received was an old edition that I’ve already read. What can I do?
Sometimes publishers use “back issues” to start a subscription quickly. Call or email our Customer Service department and we will ask the publisher to extend your expiration date so the back issues are not counted as part of your subscription.
My magazine is already on the newsstand but I haven’t received my copy in the mail yet. When can I expect it?
Most magazines are sent to subscribers around the same time they hit the newsstand, but it depends publishers’ policies and the postal service. If you haven’t received an issue within a week of when you normally receive it, please contact us.
When will my subscription expire?

How can I log into my account?
You will be able to log in to your account after you receive the final confirmation that your order has completed processing. Sometimes this takes a day or two. Click on the My Account button at the top of any page to log in. Only customers who have completed a transaction with us can have an account with us.
I need to suspend my subscriptions for a while. Can I do this?
Yes, we can suspend delivery for you. Contact us as early as possible and we’ll work out the arrangements with the publishers. It can take publishers 4-8 weeks to suspend delivery.
I’d like to give a magazine as a gift. Can you help me notify them of the gift?

Absolutely! We have gift cards that you can customize and email or print. You’ll find them in the shopping cart, or go here.

I’d like to buy a Gift Certificate. Do you have them?

Yes.  You will find them on our “gift” page.  On that page you can choose the value of your gift certificate(s) and the number you would like to purchase.  You will have the opportunity to customize your gift certificate(s) with the name of your recipient, the sender's name and a personal message. Gift certificates can be sent to their recipients via email, or you can email them to yourself to print for personal delivery.

I have a gift certificate I’d like to redeem. How does that work?
Redeeming gift certificates is easy. Just find the magazine(s) you would like to order, click the “Buy” button and proceed through the checkout process. On the payment page you can select “Gift Certificate” as a payment method. Then, you will enter the Claim Code that appears on your gift certificate.
Do you ship outside the USA?
No. We ship to all addresses in the United States and its territories. Most magazines can also be delivered to APO/FPO addresses (overseas military).
Do you ship to prisons?
We accept orders for inmates but delivery can be tricky. Some correctional facilities have restrictions on the type of magazines allowed; please check with the penitentiary for their regulations. In addition, prison officials sometimes withhold particular issues without notifying the recipient. We will attempt to resolve delivery problems and we can refund the remaining term of the subscription if you elect to cancel.
What happens after I order? Will you contact me?
You will receive an immediate confirmation email detailing the contents of your order. After your order has completed processing, usually within one business day, you will receive a final confirmation email. Please add CustomerNotify@StudentMags.com to your approved senders list to ensure these emails avoid your spam folder. You will be able to log in to your account after you receive the final confirmation that your order has completed processing.
I’m looking for student discounts. Do you have any?
Yes! We have agreements with a number of magazine publishers that allow us to offer subscription prices to college students and faculty that are even lower than our regular discount rates. These magazines will have links to the student discounts on their product page. If you add one of these offers to your cart, you must provide current school information during the checkout process to qualify for the lower rate.
Is there a tax on magazines?
No. However, some states charge sales tax on newspaper subscriptions, such as USA Today. You may receive a bill from the publisher directly for the tax or the publisher may reduce the number of issues in lieu of being billed for tax. For more information, please contact us.
Do you require a credit card to order?
No. We offer the option of receiving a bill so you can mail or call in your payment. However, payment is still due before you start receiving your magazines. The publishers require us to send payment to them with your order, so we appreciate your prompt payment.
What payment methods do you offer?
You can pay online using a debit/credit card, check, or Paypal. We accept credit or debit cards sponsored by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover as well as personal checks, certified checks and money orders. We can also bill you in the mail, in one or three installments.
How does your payment plan work?
Your first invoice will be for one-third of the order amount and is due within two weeks. Invoices for the second and third installments will arrive four weeks after the previous invoice. If you choose to pay more than the amount for which you are billed, subsequent invoices will be adjusted accordingly. You can vary which payment method you use for each installment. Use whatever method is easiest for you at that time.
I’m having trouble using your website; what can I do?
There are two things you can check when you experience problems on our website. First, please check your security settings in your browser. Our site sometimes has trouble if your security is set to 'high' so you might try lowering it to 'medium.' Also, check to make sure 'cookies' and 'JavaScript' are set to 'enabled.' After verifying both of these items you will need to close your browser, re-open it, and go back to our website. These settings are usually found in the 'Tool's menu of your browser under 'Internet Options.' If you continue to have problems contact Customer Service.

If you find a lower publisher-authorized price for a magazine you've purchased from us, we'll cheerfully refund the difference.
